Ep. 34 Active Ingredient
Happy New Year! For this episode, we find ourselves in Malta talking to Nate and Brian of Active Ingredient. We learn who is getting a tattoo after the NFL bet comes to its conclusion, plus we talk about the importance of our local volunteer fire departments.
The first impression we got walking into Active Ingredient was how much thought went into the tap room's ambiance. Nate and Brian are highly intelligent people who graduated from pharmacy school and still wanted to bring the same precision from their pharmacy days to their newest lab, the brewpub, Active Ingredient. While you might think that a brewery from two science guys would have a clinical feel, But the Active Ingredient super brewers offset that vibe with perfect lighting and the warmth of plant life throughout the front of house. But how is the beer? You ask. About as good as you would expect from two guys who could "nerd out" on managing water quality for 20 or more minutes. In other words, fantastic, Brian and Nate take great pride in perfecting their craft, and it shows in the final product. But please don't take our word for it. Head to Malta and grab a pint of their most popular beer, a NE Style Pale Ale called Control Group or any of the beers on tap and judge for yourself. We’re not the boss of you.
The Active Ingredient people are not only super fun to talk to but are also good people who genuinely care about their community. That's why they are helping both Malta Ridge and Round Lake fire departments raise money by donating $1 for every pint of Amber Embers Ale sold (also delicious). Big thank you to Brian and Nate for joining us on our podcast!
